Rajan is a proficient patent attorney with over 17 years of research and legal experience in dealing with technology and intellectual property matters. He has served as a Managing Partner at Remfry and Sagar, one of India’s most prestigious intellectual property law firm.

He received his LL.B. from University of Delhi, India. Thereafter, he completed a Senior Management Programme (SMP) at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, India. He also holds Bachelor of Technology and Masters of Technology degrees, with specialization in mechanical engineering.

Rajan is a qualified and registered patent agent and licensed to practice before the Patent Office, Trade Marks Registry & Intellectual Property Appellate Board, as well as courts across India.

He has extensive experience in advising Indian, Japanese and other foreign clients on the nuances of Indian patent prosecution and enforcement of intellectual property rights. He has handled client conferences over the world.


In his long legal career, Rajan has successfully handled litigation over numerous patent matters (from the prosecution as well as opposition’s side) for foreign companies, amongst others, relating to the fields of mechanical and electrical engineering, electronics and telecommunications.

He is a regular speaker attendee at international intellectual property law conferences. He has been invited to speak at international fora like ASPI, France; South-East Asia Exchange Summit, Singapore; conferences in Japan. Rajan has also worked for various research institutes of international repute including State Universities and Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India.

Rajan moved on from Remfry and Sagar to establish his own entrepreneurial venture CIP LEGIT and is a collaborates with Cornellia Chambers on assignments.
